Write assist
The write assist gives you tips on how to best write your content.
Amongst other hints and tips, it provides you with a Flesch Reading Ease score. This score gives you an idea of how easy (or hard) your content is to digest for the average person. The score is not to be taken as gospel, but merely as a helpful indication.
Depending on your audience, it may be important to keep your content easy and quick to digest. Don't consider your audience as "dim" or "stupid", rather consider them time poor. Most audiences fall in that category. Making your content easy to read or skim, will get your content across quicker before they tune out.
- Replace difficult words with simpler, fewer syallable words with the same meaning. For example "do" instead of "accomplish", "need" instead of "requirement", "at once" instead "immediately", "smart" instead of "innovative" etc.
- Use short sentences and break up longer sentences.
- Avoid using "we", "our" and talking about yourself. Instead, use "you" and "your" and put your pitch in terms of your audience's needs.
Further tips for writing effective content include;
- Make sure your use paragraphs to break up long blocks of text.
- Keep your headings short.
- Don't abuse headings as a means to change text size.
- Use bold and italic text sparingly.
Finally, consider using the auto quote feature in the enrich tab to break up long blocks of texts. Not only does the auto quote feature create a bit of visual interest, it also helps the user skim the text quicker by highlighting a keyword-rich piece of the text.
